TANGLEWOOD
WELCOME TO TANGLEWOOD
TANGLEWOOD
Tanglewood sits about five miles southwest of downtown, between I-30 and I-20 in 76109, minutes from TCU and directly across from Remington Park. It was ranchland before it was a neighborhood — part of it a dairy farm — and the original deed covenants still show: homes had to be brick or stone with an attached two-car garage.
The housing stock is mostly 1950s and ’60s ranch, single-story, on wide lots under mature trees. That is changing. Historic Fort Worth added Tanglewood to its Most Endangered Places list in 2013 and teardowns have accelerated since — in much of the neighborhood the lot is now worth more than the house on it, and original ranches are being replaced by larger two-story builds.
Tanglewood is one of the fastest-moving markets in 76109. Homes here typically go under contract in a matter of days rather than weeks, at very close to list price, and there are stretches with nothing available at all. If you want in, be pre-approved and ready to see a house the day it lists.
Tanglewood Elementary is inside the neighborhood on Overton Park West. The Texas Education Agency rated it an A, 93 out of 100, in its 2026 accountability ratings. Attendance zones are drawn address by address, and Fort Worth ISD is in the middle of a boundary revision running through 2029 — verify the zone for a specific address with the district before you write an offer. I run that check for every client.
Just south, Overton Park offers similar homes on larger lots. Colonial, to the east, is the luxury end of 76109.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What school is Tanglewood zoned to?
Tanglewood Elementary sits inside the neighborhood and serves most of it. The Texas Education Agency rated it an A, 93 out of 100, in its 2026 accountability ratings. Attendance zones are drawn address by address rather than by subdivision, so verify the specific address with Fort Worth ISD before making an offer.
How much do homes in Tanglewood sell for?
Twelve homes closed in Tanglewood between September 2025 and September 2026, ranging from $675,000 to $1,600,000. The median sale price was $1,006,000, or roughly $400 per square foot.
How fast do homes sell in Tanglewood?
Very fast. The median home went under contract in 8 days, and sellers averaged 98.2% of list price. Inventory is thin enough that there are stretches with nothing on the market at all.
How old are the homes in Tanglewood?
Most date to the 1950s and 1960s. Among homes sold in the past year, the median was built in 1960 and measured about 2,666 square feet. Original deed covenants required brick or stone construction with an attached two-car garage.
Are homes in Tanglewood being torn down?
Yes. Historic Fort Worth added Tanglewood to its Most Endangered Places list in 2013, and teardowns have accelerated since. In much of the neighborhood the lot is worth more than the house on it, so original single-story ranches are being replaced by larger two-story builds. Expect to choose between a mid-century home needing mid-century maintenance and a new build on the same street at a very different price.
